BBC NEWS | UK | Scotland | Glasgow, Lanarkshire and West | Salmond makes Olympic funds plea: "Lottery funding which has gone to the London Olympics must be 'returned to Scotland' to deliver the Commonwealth Games, according to the first minister.

Alex Salmond said the 2012 Olympics had cost good causes in Scotland £150m.

He said: 'It is entirely reasonable to call for an equivalent sum to be returned to Scotland to help us deliver a real, lasting legacy.'

Mr Salmond was speaking as he launched a public consultation on the legacy of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

'The Scottish Government is committed to ensuring the legacy is the right one, not just for the people of Glasgow - for everyone living, working and visiting Scotland,' he said.

He said the next step would include pursuing lottery funding."
